Alien Djokovic And Victim Murray Amazing Tennis Doubles Point
If you haven’t seen this then you need to!!
Here’s a great point from last weeks Masters 1000 Sony Ericsson Open in Miami event.
It backs up my theory of Djokovic being an alien from outer space who since they trained together in the off-season in December, has sucked the energy out of Andy Murray.
They started the December training dates about the same in ability & ranking and while Djokovic has gone from strength to strength – winning the Australian Open and still not losing a match, Murray has not won a set since he lost in the Australian Open final to……….you guessed it…………….Djokovic.
This goes beyond tennis doubles strategy or tactics!!
A great point though – what do you think? Can Djokivic really be an alien?

Tennis Doubles – You Don’t Need Topspin To Attack The Return Of Serve
I was playing in a doubles match the other day against a couple of good players.
They both hit very big shots and one of them in particular had a very big serve.
20 minutes into the match and we had won the first set 6-1.
It’s a shame you weren’t there but things were working like a dream.
But there was one thing in particular that I look back as being the key!!
As I said earlier our opponents had very big shots with big serves – BUT they played from the baseline.
Because they didn’t follow their serves into the net, I was able to (and I got my partner to follow suit) chip balls back (using a continental grip) cross court and angled over towards the service line/singles tramline junction.
This didn’t result in many outright winners but it did result in them scrambling to get to balls time and time again.
The fact that they got to the ball late meant that they got to the ball when it was pretty low and that meant that either me or my partner had a succession of easy volley put-aways at the net as they tried to get the ball over the net.
So, another example of using the right shot in the right situation!!
Please Note – I am putting together a Play Killer Doubles Report and really want to make sure I get everything in.
If there is something you want to know about playing better doubles or are not sure about, just leave a comment below and I will make sure I cram everything in.
Talk More And Win More Tennis Doubles Matches
Ok let’s assume you are trying some of the stuff i mentioned before and it’s a “work in progress”.
That’ fine.
You can still impact your doubles game with this one – comunication!!
Yes you need to volley and poach etc. but you and your partner need to communicate with each other on a regular basis if you want to really get going.
If you watch top level doubles you will see the players talking to each other after every point.
So for you to talk to your partner is nothing out of the ordinary – yet hardly anyone at the club level does it.
Getting back again to my own partnership, we communicated on 3 basic levels.
1. Where we were going to serve (down the middle, out wide, body etc)
2. What the other partner was going to do as a result of the serve (stay, intercept etc)
3. Encouragement for each other at the end of each point regardless of the outcome.
If you can start with these simple lines of communication, you will be very suprised about the effect they will have on your results.
